Alldales energy benefits for ASDA

An Alldales Drive Systems product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 16, 2007

HVAC drive systems specialists Alldales complete nationwide programme to install inverter drives to in-store air handling units at 77 ASDA stores nationwide.

The rollout of the technology follows on from a pilot scheme of 13 stores which demonstrated the potential energy savings of the technology.

Part of a range of initiatives launched by ASDA to cut emissions by 20% by 2012, the drives are expected to reduce annual store energy bills by up to GBP6,000, particularly in stores with late opening hours or all-day trading.

Founded by a Group of farmers from Yorkshire, and since 1999 part of the Wal-Mart family, ASDA remains committed to reducing its impact on the environment as a community-based business.

Recognising that a significant proportion of the energy consumed in-store is accounted for by HVAC plant and systems, ASDA turned to Alldales' dedicated HVAC Drives.

Inverter drive technology delivers energy efficiencies by regulating motor speeds to control pressure and flow.

Governed by centrifugal affinity laws, variable speed running offers huge benefits compared to traditional throttle and vane control methods.

Reducing motor speed by just 20% could literally halve energy consumption.
