Derbigum, award-winning waterproofing system from Alumasc, has been used extensively on large-scale development at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Alumasc advise on long term waterproofing solution
Derbigum single layer waterproofing membrane has been successfully used to refurbish and waterproof the roof of an important community facility in Leeds.
Previously, a variety of materials had been used to make temporary repairs to the waterproofing on the main roof and associated detailing, however the fabric had finally reached the end of its life and a long-term re-roofing solution was greatly needed.
Derbigum, with its proven track record of performance and longevity was the obvious choice.
The latest generation Derbigum system incorporates enhanced performance properties such as increased flexibility, stronger reinforcement and an improved fire rating that satisfies all UK and European Fire Tests and the requirements of Factory Mutual.
Almost 1700 square metres of Derbigum was installed on Cumberland School, over Alumasc's Hi Ten vapour control layer, Korklite Plus insulation and specially 'scored' polyurethane to accommodate the curved roof.
Whilst the Derbigum membrane requires no surface finish, it may be optionally painted or can be specified with one of five mineral facings, as was the case with the CDT block where rust-coloured mineral finish was selected.
As a 4mm dual-reinforced TPO modified bitumen membrane, Derbigum is suitable for both refurbishment projects and new build applications.
The system is warranted for up to 20 years and has a BBA backed life expectancy in excess of 30 years.
Its long-term performance has also been officially recognised by the FRA who awarded Derbigum the 2004 Product Excellence Award.
Derbigum offers one of the fastest, most economic and simple installation procedures available for any high performance system.
Contractors can choose from five different installation methods, including those that do not require the use of hot bitumen, flame or hot air gun - thereby reducing the risk of fire during installation and increasing site safety.
To guarantee quality control, the Cumberland School roof was installed by an Alumasc approved contractors, Acclaim Roofing . Request a free brochure from Alumasc Exterior Building Products ...
