Environmental accolade for Alumasc

Alumasc Exterior Building Products gain highly sought after distinction of ISO 14001:2004 accreditation for their Environmental Management System.

ISO 14001:2004 requires companies to seek a pro-active approach to environmental concerns, and this requirement is particularly well served at Alumasc Production is monitored to international standards; many of the company's building solutions such as market leading green roofs and rainwater-handling systems and thermally-efficient facades are highly conservation-specific

Thermal cladding products drastically reduce CO2 emissions, save energy consumption and bring ageing homes back into efficient service: natural cork from carefully managed forests is offered as one totally sustainable insulation option and other materials such as cast iron and aluminium, used in the company's metal roofing drainage and rainwater products, are 100% recyclable.

ISO 14001:2004 is awarded to companies able to demonstrate an ethically responsible and carefully structured strategy to manage environmental impacts throughout their business operations.

In order to qualify for this internationally accepted benchmark of excellence, AEBP had to carry out an exhaustive assessment of all its activities to identify those aspects which impacted, or might have a future impact, upon the environment.

It was then necessary to address these findings and set up procedures for compliance with stringent standards, along with the commitment to a regular audit to constantly monitor systems with a view to continual improvement.

John Carter, Commercial Director, comments "We are delighted to have achieved ISO 14001:2004 at our St Helens site".

"We are determined to continue reducing waste and making more efficient use of natural resources, gas, water and electricity in our manufacturing processes, whilst continually monitoring our every day impact on the working environment, the impact of our operations on our customers and our neighbours".

Alumasc can clearly demonstrate a holistic, ongoing and continuously improving responsibility to the environment and the community at large through all the three stages of construction - production, application and final consumption.

ISO 14001:2004 exists in order to bring a globally acceptable set of standards to bear upon the crucial issues of environmental awareness and concern, ultimately creating a cleaner, safer world for the future.

AEBP's achievement in gaining this recognition clearly demonstrates the company's commitment to this end.
