Alumasc have introduced a sixth Aqualine extruded gutter profile to their existing range.
They recommended overlaying the existing surface with a Derbigum single layer membrane, with all the details cut back and renewed at the many upstands and perimeters, ensuring that the roof would provide high performance and long term waterproofing for many years to come.
Derbigum, the BBA certified, 2004 FRA Product Excellence award winning flat roofing system was chosen as it offered the council excellent value for money and the 20 year warranty provided by Alumasc would ensure their future peace of mind for the longevity of the roof.
The requirement for excellent fire performance was also a consideration; Derbigum comfortably meets UK requirements and exceeds all elements of EN1187, the new European fire test.
The Derbigum was installed by the use of block bonding, a quick and efficient way of fitting multiple full length rolls, which avoids the need for staggered junctions and minimises the potential for wastage.
Leeds City Council were keen to ensure that there was minimum disruption to the building's users and staff during the project and Alumasc, working with their approved contractor, Everlast Waterproofing, were able to successfully achieve this to the delight of the Council's Strategic Design Alliance.
