Advanced waterproofing systems from Alumasc
Derbigum waterproofing solutions from Alumasc have been extensively used in Ireland's major new retail, commercial and residential development at Sandyford, Dublin
Alumasc's BBA approved Derbigum system and associated ZinCo green roofing products were specified for the large landscaped Plaza and Orchard underground car parking areas of the development, which comprises up-market shopping facilities, restaurants and hotels, offices, cultural amenities, 1,100 luxury apartments and Ireland's first dedicated children's museum, Imaginosity.
Derbigum waterproofing solutions are manufactured under the ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management System and have been selected for high-profile building projects all over the UK and abroad.
The range offers great flexibility in both application and installation, with a configuration to suit warm, cold and inverted roofs in any location.
Based upon a 4mm thick composite of APP modified bitumen with a tough polyester core and a glass fibre weathering surface, the product can be utilised as a single-layer installation as Derbigum Rapido, offering unsurpassed waterproofing performance, longevity and resistance to mechanical damage.
Alternatively, Derbigum Built-Up provides a choice of insulating base layers to suit different requirements which are capped with the preferred membrane, available as self-colour Derbigum Black, Derbigum Mineral or Derbibrite solar-reflective acrylic in white or grey.
The membrane is quickly installed by accredited contrac! tors using cold spray adhesive and torched or hot-air laps.
Lap-bonding with adhesive can be achieved in restricted areas.
Derbigum can be applied entirely by hot torching, or be mechanically fixed, and the material's inherent pliability allows it to closely follow contours.
Derbigum CG is a heavy duty, dual reinforced option for high performance situations such as podiums, decks and car parks.
Alumasc is a major force in Green Roof technology, offering systems that range from simple flower plantings to landscaped leisure sites.
Alumasc's wide-ranging on-site support and technical advice is a valuable resource for planners and designers, and the company's ability to meet the exacting requirements of prestigious developments such as Beacon South Quarter is an indication of the product's outstanding fitness for purpose.
The project architects were Traynor O'Toole and the main contractor was John Paul PJ Hegarty JV Co.
