Alumasc installs external wall insulation at arena

The Swistherm external-wall-insulation system from Alumasc has been installed as part of a thermally efficient facade at a sports and leisure facility.

The multi-coloured facade has been awarded Best Leisure Project at this year's INCA awards, held by The Insulated Render and Cladding Association.

The project required a facade that could provide durable, long-term performance together with an attractive appearance to complement the contemporary design of the building.

Swistherm, incorporating 100mm mineral-wool insulation, was specified for a number of rendered sections around the exterior of the arena.

The sections were finished in shades of yellow, purple, green and red, using ST Silkolitt lightweight silicone render.

Swistherm is a BBA-approved, thin-coat insulated render system that can be finished in a choice of silicone or mineral-based topcoats.

The system comprises insulation slabs that are fixed directly to the substrate and finished with the appropriate render.

Swistherm is thermally efficient and wind and waterproof, as well as eliminating condensation and reducing energy consumption..

Insulation slabs are available in a variety of materials, including polystyrene, mineral wool or highly sustainable natural cork for environmentally sensitive applications.

The system is available with a choice of two render finishes and more then 400 colour and toning options.

ST Silicone render is a high-performance, stain-resistant and water-repellent material, with the ST Mineral render option providing a lightweight, natural alternative.
