Altro success in Staffordshire hospital trial
South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust has chosen Altro provide new resilient flooring within the Sir Robert Peel Hospital in Staffordshire.
The Primary Care Trust recently underwent an infection control audit, and decided to replace any soft flooring such as carpet tiles with vinyl flooring to actively reduce the risk of infection transmission.
Working with KBA Architects in Stafford, estates staff from the Trust trialled a variety of manufacturers' products within the Sir Robert Peel Hospital to gain an understanding of their performance in situ.
After this trial, Altro was selected as the interior solutions provider whose products would best meet its stringent requirements.
Vincent Jones from KBA Architects comments: "The trial conducted in-house by South Staffordshire Primary Care trust found Altro's interior surfaces to be a clear winner in terms of performance".
"The slip reduction with hygienic properties made it particularly well suited for use within the hospital, whilst its durability and design options made it a cost effective and aesthetically pleasing choice".
Altro Mirica was chosen for all circulation and ward areas within the hospital, offering an attractive and safe solution for staff, patients and visitors.
Altro Mirica has a modern patterned look which helps mask scuffing and routine daily soiling in between cleaning, so even high traffic areas in the hospital will look as good at the end of the day as they do first thing in the morning.
Altro Mirica also incorporates a bacteriostat that prevents the reproduction of bacteria, making it perfect for managing the transmission of infection within the healthcare environment.
For bathroom floors and back-of-house utility areas the Primary Care Trust chose Altro Suprema, providing a hard-wearing and slip-resistant solution with a fresh and clean look.
Altro Suprema incorporates Altro's Maxis Easyclean technology, helping the facilities management team at Sir Robert Peel Hospital keep their flooring in peak condition.
Susan Evans, Estates and Premises Officer for South Staffordshire PCT, comments: "We trialled several hard floor surfaces at the hospital prior to making a decision on which product to specify".
"As well as meeting relevant Infection Control Standards, this trial found Altro's products to be hard wearing, pleasing to the eye and requiring minimal maintenance".
"Altro was the obvious choice as its products offered us excellent value for money, and we have used Altro products to refurbish several properties, including Sir Robert Peel Hospital.".
