Low intensity Nor-Ray-Vac heating saves money

An Ambi-Rad product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Dec 12, 2007

Nor-Ray-Vac continuous radiant tube heating from AmbiRad is helping data cabling manufacturer Brand-Rex cut energy costs.

Brand-Rex specialises in designing, developing and manufacturing high performance cabling solutions for communications and extreme environment applications.

The company recently consolidated several factory sites in one unit - a single pitch roof building with five 100m long production bays.

Existing warm air heating was inappropriate for the building's new use, while the low roof height (4.5m to the eaves and 6.5m to the ridge) and requirement for temperature control within each bay made Nor-Ray-Vac continuous radiant tube heating an ideal solution.

The system was designed jointly by AmbiRad and MandE contractor Thermatic, who also carried out the installation.

In all, 42 Nor-Ray-Vac LR burners (comprising 25 x 24kW and 17 x 32kW output burners) were fitted.

Each bay has its own small Nor-Ray-Vac system, allowing precision temperature control within each.

If a bay is not in use, the heating can be shut off to save energy.

Nor-Ray-Vac continuous radiant systems can be used where roof heights are relatively low to provide all the benefits of single tube radiant - economy, quick start-up and heat recovery, minimal roof penetrations, low emissions - but delivering heat at lower intensity.
