M.H.Mear central heating calculators tap into Amtech's software expertise

M.H.Mear central heating calculators, an everyday companion for many heating engineers, will soon be available on PDA (personal digital assistant) thanks to a collaborative agreement between M H Mear and leading software developer Amtech Power Software.

Harnessing Amtech's expertise in producing innovative mobile software solutions for building services trades, the co-development programme will focus initially on Mear's most popular product, the First Principles Domestic Central Heating Calculator.

Once launched, the new product will be marketed and sold by both companies.

M.H.Mear director David Mosley commented: "We have spent a long time looking for a software partner that would complement our own strengths and add value to the physical calculator".

"Amtech's expertise and impressive track record provide very strong synergies to the M H Mear offering".

As well as enabling quick and easy calculation of radiator, boiler and pump sizes, the software version will allow all calculations to be saved in the software or printed as a report.

Consequently, it will provide a complete audit trail to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulations and best practice procedures.

Such information may also become part of future 'home information packs'.

"Our GasCert program has shown us there's a huge appetite for mobile solutions among heating engineers," added Amtech sales director James Cooper.

"Mear's First Principles calculator is an essential tool for heating engineers so we can be confident the enhanced electronic version will be very warmly received by the trade," he concluded.
