UK's leading strawbale builders, amazonails, have courses during summer 2008, covering a variety of locations in the UK, including the Orkneys, Scotland, and in Bulgaria.

A few courses involve building an entire structure from start to finish, but most focus on specific parts of the process such as laying foundations, building the straw walls, clay plastering or lime rendering All courses will cover the theory of the techniques used, but also lots of hands-on building experience, offering the opportunity to discover what strawbaling is all about

The courses are suitable for all levels of experience, from the complete novice to professional builders, from those who are just dipping their toes into the world of sustainable building to those who already have expertise in related fields.

The amazonails courses are equally suitable for those thinking of building their own strawbale structure, or of working on someone else's.

Courses will be taught by amazonails staff, Bee Rowan, Barbara Jones or Jakub Wihan, or one of the amazonails International Ambassadors.

The first course this year will be from 5 to 9 May at Assington Mill, Suffolk, and is a general strawbale building course.

The first of two strawbale building courses on Orkney is from 12 to 16 May, and this is followed by a further strawbale building course, two lime plastering courses, and two lime/clay plastering and rendering courses on the island later in the year.

There are several courses in London, at Hackney City Farm.

On courses organised and run by amazonails itself, such as those on Orkney, course fees vary from GBP40/day to GBP85/day depending on the participant's employment situation.

On courses taught by amazonails for other organisations the course fees may be fixed.
