First Robust Detail to qualify for maximum credits
An Ancon Wall Tie has been named as an integral component in the first Robust Detail to qualify for the maximum sound insulation credits, under the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Robust Details has published E-WM-19; based around Icopal Monarfloor's Bridgestop acoustic isolation system for masonry separating cavity walls.
Ancon Wall Tie named as an integral component in first Robust Detail to qualify for maximum sound insulation credits
The assessed structures incorporated Staifix HRT4 wall ties.
The HRT4 is manufactured by Ancon from high tensile stainless steel wire.
The thin bridge across the cavity formed by the slender profile of this wall tie has a negligible effect on the acoustic (and the thermal) performance of a masonry wall, making it the ideal solution for this application.
No wall tie other than the Staifix HRT4 is currently able to be used in all masonry cavity separating wall details published by Robust Details .
The Staifix HRT4 is readily available from builders' merchants and other specialist distributors.
It is available in three lengths to suit cavities from 50mm to 125mm.
Robust Details assesses and approves separating wall and floor constructions for use in new build attached dwellings which are capable of consistently exceeding the performance standards of Approved Document E (Resistance to the Passage of Sound).
Under the provisions of the Building Regulations, use of the Robust Details scheme negates the need for mandatory pre-completion sound testing when constructing new attached dwellings.
Contractors can implement these proven build methods to avoid expensive test procedures and costs / delays associated with rectifying structures which fail to comply with the performance requirements.
