Andersen classic casement windows success

An Andersen Windows product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Apr 30, 2007

Narrow lined elegance of the Andersen range of casement windows is offering all round aesthetic and practical appeal to builders wanting a stylish alternative to conventional PVC-u windows.

Ideal for both modern and traditional properties, new build and refurbishment, this versatile window has the classic moulded shape of a natural wood casement, with its slender sightlines and elegant glazing bar options, while allowing a proportionally larger glazed area to let more light into the home.

Excellent weather resistance is achieved by the unique low maintenance Perma Shield system, on the exterior of the frame.

Available in White, Sandtone (a neutral beige), TerratoneO (an earth tone), or Forest Green, it does not chip, rot or flake or require any painting.

"The casement is one of our most popular window ranges because of its all round performance, good looks, convenience and ease of use for the end user," said Bob Heller, National Sales Manager for Black Millwork, distributor for Andersen Windows in the UK and Ireland.

One of its popular design features is its stylish range of crank handles, positionned on the lower frame, which can be easily reached by wheelchair users.

They can be replaced by a unique 'Owl Mark' approved 'Easy Grip' handle for the elderly or infirm.

For added convenience, new High Performance Low-E4 self cleaning glass is also supplied as standard across the 400 Series of casements, although both panes can still be manually cleaned from within the room if required.

As with all Andersen windows and patio doors, the casement range offers exceptional energy ratings.

The soft coat low E argon filled double glazed unit have U values as low as 1.4 - a great benefit to builders seeking compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations (Part J for Scotland).

Excellent security is also achieved thanks to the casement's pioneering "slip-fit" latch, which operates a multi-point locking system and provides key-lockable security without the inconvenience of having to use small keys.

The latches are also fitted near to the bottom of the frame making them easily accessible.

Available in over 90 sizes, the casement window can be arranged as a bow, angle bay, or box bay window.

It can also be combined with Andersen's awnings and roof windows, plus an extensive range of ellipticals, quarter rounds, and variety of glazing options including Art Glass to create an impressive feature window.
