Angel House - an elegant London eco tower

A The Angel Group product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 13, 2008

An innovative, dynamic and environmentally friendly scheme by Angel House Developments, part of the Angel Group, has been designed for Marsh Wall, south of Canary Wharf.

The scheme, a ground plus 42 storey (137.2m AOD) tower, with 11 storey podium section, is currently going through the planning process, having been submitted in September.

The new building will be an asset to the local community with luxury apartments and extremely high quality affordable homes, many of which will be new family accommodation.

Jobs will be created, not only during the construction phase, but in the retail space, restaurants/cafes and commercial units on the ground floor, as well as in looking after the serviced apartments in the tower.

The development will also include an exciting roof top swimming pool and fitness centre.

On the roof of the podium, it is planned to create a large landscaped garden and children's play area, with lawns, trees, and shrubs.

Additionally, all apartments will have winter gardens, and there will be a pocket square at ground level open to the public.

The proposed development has been designed to be in line with the Mayor's Energy Hierarchy to 'be lean', 'be green' and to 'be clean'.

Carbon emissions will be cut by approximately 11%, whilst a Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) will further decrease it by 12%.

Furthermore, Biomass Boilers will provide a further 14% reduction in CO2 levels and will provide a significant proportion of the total heat and hot water needs of the building.

"We are genuinely proud of what the company has created and hope to see our proposals approved very soon".
