Sykes Pumps, part of the leading hire specialist group Andrews Sykes, unveiled its plans for a major new drive into pump hire for the construction industry, at SED.
The company, which has long been associated with the hire and sale of high performance pump sets used by the construction, mining, quarrying and utilities markets, announced that it was investing GBP 2.5 million this year in resources, staff and equipment as part of a commitment to build its pump business.
Steve Reeve, who joined the group in 2004, has been appointed National Sales Director, Pumps and will oversee both product and market development as Sykes expands its range of equipment available for hire and outright sale.
"There are a number of exciting product developments taking place during 2005 and beyond" he said at SED.
"In addition to Sykes' well known portable and fixed ranges, the hire fleet is now complemented by the addition of a range of submersible pumps manufactured by ABS".
During the coming months, Sykes will be announcing further new products, including additions to its popular super silenced range, which are the quietest diesel pumps available in the hire market.
"Our strategy is to match proven designs and technology with innovative application development and a first class hire, sales and maintenance service for all our customers." stated Steve.
One of the more novel pumping applications, demonstrated on the Sykes Pumps stand, is for the aeration of fishing lakes.
Using an ABS venturi connected to a Sykes pump, the system delivers much needed oxygenation to stocked fisheries during the heat of summer.
More conventional uses, which include; emergency pumping of waste water, slurry removal and control of water levels in construction projects find Sykes Pumps in demand on building sites throughout the year.
