Alfachill brazed heat exchangers from Alfa Laval

An Alfa Laval product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 18, 2010

Alfa Laval has developed a range of Alfachill (AC) Brazed Heat Exchangers (BHEs) specifically for a wide range of duties in the refrigeration and HVAC sectors.

The Alfachill units achieve the highest co-efficient of performance (COP) with HFC refrigerants such as R407C, R404A, R507 and with natural refrigerants (CO2 - propane).

The latest models, the AC230 and the AC500, are a suitable choice for use with R410a, the favoured refrigerant for modern HVAC systems and are designed for use as chillers in the 50-600kW range.

The AC range is split into normal and high pressure versions.

Models in the normal range can handle up to 32 Bar while the high pressure units will work up to a maximum of 45Bar.

A patented channel plate design and a new distribution circuit means they provide 20 per cent more cooling capacity than the models they have been built to replace, even though they fit within the same footprint, enabling simple upgrading of existing instalaltions if necessary.

All of the units comply with major pressure vessel codes such as PED (Europe), UL (USA) and KHK (Japan).
