Free guide to fire system design from Apollo

An Apollo Fire Detectors product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Feb 6, 2008

Apollo Fire Detectors has launched a handy reference guide for designers and installers of fire detection systems.

Available free on request, the pocket-sized publication illustrates the essentials of good fire system design in order to comply with the requirements of BS5839 Part 1:2002.

The booklet is designed to be used in conjunction with the full BS standard.

It uses diagrams to summarise the main points of the legislation and each one is clearly labelled with the relevant section of the Code so that users can easily check the detailed requirements with the standard.

Key topics covered by the booklet include correct siting of various detector types in different environmental circumstances and the maximum safe distance that occupants can travel before locating a manual call point.

There's also a pictorial summary regarding the correct siting and wiring of sounders and a checklist of fire alarm and detection system categories.
