A-Plant awarded twice by Environment Agency

An A-Plant product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 9, 2009

A-Plant, one of the largest non operated equipment rental companies in the UK, has been awarded two four year framework agreements with the Environment Agency.

The prestigious awards cover both the hire of tools and equipment and the maintenance and servicing of the Agency's existing fleet of equipment.

A-Plant is one of the three suppliers on the hire framework and has been awarded a single supplier framework agreement for the management, maintenance and servicing of the entire fleet of powered hand tools and powered work equipment at the Environment Agency.

Erik Broderstad, Key Accounts Sales Director for A-Plant, said: "The new contracts with the Environment Agency are high status appointments, which will utilise our wide range of expertise in the tool and plant hire market in the UK.

Under the new maintenance and servicing framework, we have sole responsibility for assessing and advising on the inventories of equipment held at over 160 locations in the eight regions of the Environment Agency around the country".

To establish the procedures to be used in this important contract, A-Plant is carrying out three pilot projects in the Thames West, North West North and Midlands East areas, based in three of the eight regions.

A-Plant will examine every piece of equipment and submit a report to the Environment Agency on the inventory held at each location in these areas, the age and condition of the equipment and proposals on whether the equipment should be repaired or replaced.

This process will then be rolled out to all eight regions to produce a national report for the Environment Agency.

This is the latest in a raft of key account wins by A-Plant which recognise the company's commitment to enhancing service and efficiencies, reducing costs and administration and eliminating wastage and non-value added transaction processes as measured against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

A-Plant is part of FTSE 250 company, Ashtead Group plc, the leading UK and US equipment outsourcer.

A-Plant is committed to providing the best hire service in Europe and this is reinforced by the company's website which provides a definitive range of online services for the equipment hire industry.

Many A-Plant customers utilise the reporting capabilities available through the company's Extranet accessed through the website.

They can obtain consolidated information for all transactions with A-Plant, regardless of what equipment was hired and which A-Plant location was involved, presenting the information by operating region and by postcode for particular sites.

The ability to offer weekly hire reports and consolidated invoices meet the latest requirements for management reporting.

The Environment Agency is an Executive Non Departmental Public Body responsible to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and an Assembly Sponsored Public Body responsible to the National Assembly for Wales.

The principal aims of the Environment Agency are to protect and improve the environment, and to promote sustainable development.
