New cancer research benefits from
Systemardex

Ardex UK and Grace Resin Flooring of Norwich worked in partnership to provide the ideal industrial flooring system solution for a new building on behalf of Cancer Research UK.

When a prestigious new building on behalf of Cancer Research UK required a cost effective but high quality flooring solution, Ardex UK and Grace Resin Flooring of Norwich worked in partnership to provide the ideal industrial flooring system solution The new Cancer Research UK Cambridge Research Institute is housed in the magnificent new GBP50 million Li Ka Shing Centre on the Cambridge Bio-Medical Campus site, next to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge

The building was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen, who is Patron of the Charity, accompanied by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, and Sir Ka-shing Li, Chairman of Hutchison Whampoa .

The Institute is a unique partnership between the University of Cambridge and Cancer Research UK which will be dedicated to state-of-the-art research into the causes of cancer, developing new treatments and bringing them to the clinic to the benefit of cancer patients.

More than 300 scientists in up to thirty research groups will be based at the Institute, which is the largest new cancer research centre in the UK for 40 years.

For levelling the floor, Grace Resin Flooring selected the Ardex SD-T/Ardex R 30 E topping and coating system as it has been successfully installed throughout many previous installations where time and cost savings were made without sacrificing quality of finish.

The 2000m2 area designated for future use as laboratories, received a pumped application of Ardex SD-T to give a fluid, rapid drying, self levelling mortar which provided a hard, smooth and flat surface prior to the application of Ardex R 30 E Water-based Epoxy Coating.

Developed to provide an easily cleaned surface, Ardex R 30 E has excellent adhesion to concrete, sand/cement screeds and other substrates.

In addition, it offers low odour and is particularly suitable for floor applications in light industry, garages, warehouses, kitchens and other areas subject to light vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

"Ardex has an excellent reputation within the resin flooring industry which we consider totally justified".

"Not only are their products outstanding, but their technical and field sales support are second to none", remarked Adrian Murphy of Grace Resin Flooring. Request a free brochure from Ardex UK ...
