Dricon specialist fire retardant treatment
Independent trials started 21 years ago have provided further supporting evidence that the fire performance of Dricon fire protected softwood does not deteriorate with age.
In EN13823 SBI tests that were conducted the fire growth, spread of flame, smoke generation and heat release were all significantly reduced in Vacsol FR treated timber as opposed to untreated timber.
Richard Adams, fire retardant manager of Arch, commented "New Vacsol FR fire retardant framing timbers can provide a significant and cost effective component in the fire management regime of any future timber frame build project, particularly high value buildings, and help allow the continued growth of this environmentally sound and versatile construction method." Dricon fire retardant treated timber, remains the only product of its type to achieve British Board of Agrement (BBA) certification, and continues to provide a proven and permanent surface spread of flame protection for interior and weather protected exterior timber applications.
Some of the recent projects where Dricon has been used include the award winning Savill Building at the Royal Landscape and the Dulwich Timber and Glass House featured in the Grand Designs programme.
Non-Com Exterior, a proven protection for timbers used in exterior and severe damp situations continues to be specified for major build projects such as Shornewood Country Park and the Postbox Apartments in Birmingham..
