Tanalised Clear pressure treated timber from Arch

An Arch Timber Protection product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 23, 2010

Arch Timber Protection has launched Tanalised Clear pressure treated timber, a breakthrough for above ground and decorative applications, such as cladding, deck boards and garden building components.

Tanalised Clear pressure treated timber is protected with Tanalith M, a unique metal free wood preservative that provides an alternative option emphasising one of the main benefits of timber - its natural colouration and appearance.

One of the features of the revolutionary product - introduced as part of Arch's Year of Innovation 2010 - is that over time, Tanalised Clear pressure treated timber develops a distinctive and very attractive, sun-brightened appearance.

Tanalised Clear pressure treated timber provides effective, long term protection against wood decay and insect attack; the desired service life is up to 30 years for some applications.

Additionally, the treatment is extremely effective at preventing the development of non-destructive staining fungi, which are responsible for causing unsightly black or grey patches on the surface of untreated timbers used in outdoor situations thereby spoiling the aesthetic appeal.

Such fungi are commonly associated with untreated Larch cladding for example.

Using proven high pressure technology, Tanalised Clear is the perfect choice for those working on projects that require high performance decorative timbers with a natural appearance.

For cladding projects in particular, various species of softwood timbers can be treated to improve the longevity of their aesthetic appeal; target species include pine, spruce, larch, douglas fir and western red cedar.
