Best practice in occupational health and
safety
Arco, UK's leading supplier of personal protection equipment and work place safety products, has sponsored an award at a prestigious industry inaugural ceremony.
SHP (Safety and Health Practitioner), the occupational health industry's leading publication, launched its awards with a black tie dinner held at the Park Lane Hilton in London where fourteen awards were presented The deliberate aim was to encourage and recognise genuine good practice and achievement above and beyond the norm, in as many sectors as possible

The winner had clearly demonstrated health and safety success in the form of a project, innovation, product, or campaign, where there was an obvious aim behind the initiative, which was met with tangible benefits.
The winner of the award was Chippenham-based Westinghouse Rail Systems Limited, a world leader in railway signaling and control technology, who through implementing a training scheme, managed within a year to reduce lost time accidents from five to one and first aid accidents by 45% to 47 accidents.
The award was presented to Westinghouse Rail Systems' Safety Manager Derek Boulton by Arco's Sales and Marketing Director Neil Jowsey, who said: "It's a great pleasure for Arco to sponsor this award".
"At Arco we are intent on championing best practice and it is one of our aims to help companies improve work place safety records".
"Westinghouse Rail Systems has made significant improvements and fully deserves this award".
Derek Boulton added: "We are absolutely delighted to have received this prestigious award; it's a great reflection of the work of a great many people throughout the business and a clear recognition of our commitment to continually improve safety in the workplace.".
