Arnold Laver Timber World is set to plant more than 220 trees after a successful attendance at the national Ecobuild 2008 conference.

The timber merchant's agreed to plant a tree for every person to register their details with them at the exhibition as a sign of their eco-friendly approach At Ecobuild

the focal point of Arnold Laver's stand was a six metre high cherry tree, where delegates were able to provide their information.

The tree has now been given a permanent place at the company's Mosborough, Sheffield branch, while the other 220 tress will be planted at a site in North Yorkshire.

Now in its fifth year, Ecobuild 2008 at Earls Court, London, showcased the latest products and services in the sustainable design and construction industry.

More than 20,000 people attended.

David Oldfield, Arnold Laver's Group Joinery Manager, said: "It was a good exhibition with 50 per cent more visitors to our stand than in the previous year".

"We are delighted so many people registered, allowing the company to plant a large amount of trees".

"Hopefully this will have a real effect to the area they will be located in".

Arnold Laver was able to display their new products in cladding and the Danback system at Ecobuild, while also donating a large amount of decking material to the main 'streetscene' area of the exhibition.

Danback is a flexible wood backing system which supports cabinets, shelves, hand-rails, wall mounted sinks and counters, while reducing installation time by an estimated 90 per cent.

All of Arnold Laver's Timber World Branches are accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and BM TRADA Forest Products (CSA, MTCC and SFI).

The accolades provide their customers with the confidence that the majority of Arnold Laver's timber and wood-based products are from legal, well-managed forests.

Ecobuild 2008 took place at the same time as two other dedicated conference events, Cityscape and Futurebuild, which explored the future innovations in the construction industry.
