The deal will see Arnold Laver Timber World supplying Sheffield and Hull Councils, via Kier Building Maintenance North, with Forest Stewardship Council certified internal doors.

All the JELD-WEN UK doors will be used as part of Kier's major redevelopment of council houses in the cities David Oldfield, Joinery Group's Manager at Arnold Laver Timber World, said: "The doors are more environmentally friendly because they don't use hardwood edging strips known as 'lipping,' which standard internal doors normally have

"This is good news for council house tenants and a good boost to the councils' initiatives to reduce their carbon foot print.

We are also very pleased to continue our relationship with JELD-WEN and Kier." Arnold Laver has become one of a select number of distributors of JELD-WEN doors with thousands of their products available across the country.

JELD-WEN, which has a head office at Woodhouse Mill on Retford Road, Sheffield is one of the country's leading manufacturer of windows, external and internal doors, patio doors, garage doors and stairs.

In May 2006, Arnold Laver, JELD-WEN and Kier Sheffield's manufacturing unit, Sharrow Industries, began the supply of 80,000 new door sets for a major Kier-led refit of council houses in Sheffield - one of the largest single government contracts for doors ever made in Europe.

A dedicated email address has been established by Arnold Laver for all door enquiries.
