Fire suppression system is fast

An Ardent Fire Protection product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team May 4, 2007

Ardent Sapphire clean agent system suppresses fires quickly, cleanly and safely.

Quickly and efficiently suppressing fires and uniquely environment friendly while protecting sensitive equipment and safe enough to people that it can be used in manned environments, the Ardent Sapphire clean agent system employs the revolutionary 3M Novec 1230 fire protection fluid.

Discharging in just 10 seconds and instantly vaporising to totally flooding protected spaces and absorb heat effectively, this colourless and odourless cleaning agent is stored as a liquid in cylinders, which saves costly plant area by taking up less space than inert gases.

Easier to refill due to a higher temperature for evaporation than other products, it can be used in a multitude of hazards including class A, B and C materials and on fires involving live electrical equipment.

It is a highly efficient extinguishant for both streaming and flooding applications.

In tandem with a sophisticated Ardent fire alarm control, the Sapphire system is especially suited to use in areas where electrically non-conductive medium is required.

It is also the ideal solution where electronics systems cannot be shut down in emergency and where clean-up of other agents poses a problem.

Quickly evaporated once the danger has passed without harming assets, property or people, Novec 1230 is used at concentrations of only 4% to 6% by volume, which is well below the 10% concentration maximum for safe exposure.

This said to provide the widest safety margin of any chemical clean agent available today.

As the cleanest, most environmental friendly chemical agent in existence, it has an ozone depletion potential of zero, a global warming potential of just one and a five-day atmospheric lifetime compared to 33 years for the next closest product.

The system is readily available from Ardent along with other products to cover additional classes of fire,.
