An Ashzip roof from Ash and Lacy has helped attract queues of potential purchasers to a new development of 224 flats in one of London's most up- and- coming areas.

The Vista Building on Calderwood Street in Woolwich has been converted from a tired office block into a ten storey development of one and two bedroom flats, plus 34 penthouse apartments on the top two floors which were added to the existing structure.

Ash and Lacy applied their total envelope solution approach to create roofs for blocks A, B and C that not only enhance the aesthetics of the building but also provide the durability, excellent weatherproofing and thermal protection associated with the Ashzip standing seam roof system.

Deemed the 'New Docklands', with its Waterside View, the Vista building has generated much public attention, resulting in queues of potential purchasers, including one buyer who camped outside the development for two days to ensure he secured his one bedroom flat.

Kerrington Developments are responsible for the building, with one and two bedroom flats priced between GBP95,000 - GBP180,000 and the penthouse apartments starting at GBP250,000.

The roofing work was undertaken by Logic Roofing and Cladding who chose the Ashzip system as a competitive solution in creating new roofs for the three blocks.

The Ashzip aluminium sheets can be rolled on site but on this occasion the sheets were factory produced by Ash and Lacy and pre-curved to a radius of 14.5m.

The development features some 2,000m2 of Ashzip in 0.9mm gauge mill finished stucco embossed aluminium which is secured by hidden fixings and interlocking perimeters to provide a continuous weather-tight outer skin.

Integral to the Ashzip roofing package is the Ashgrid spacer support system which allows the system to comply with AD L2 standards.

A 0.7mm steel walkable liner sheet was also supplied with a white polyester finish.
