The impressive Ashzip standing seam roof design created by Ash and Lacy Building Systems for the Snow and Rock store at Eastham Point is reminiscent of the shape of a ski slope.

Retail shoppers visiting the Snow and Rock store at Eastham Point in the Wirral will be struck by the impressive Ashzip standing seam roof design, reminiscent of the shape of a ski slope, created by Ash and Lacy Building Systems The client, PTS Properties, required a modern and stylish roof to match the state of the art building and appeal to upmarket retail tenants

Main contractor, Beva Construction, was responsible for transforming the formerly stepped roof structure into a striking single plane roof, comprising a membrane and curved roof beams which complements the tinted green glass facade.

The overall result features the modern looking Ashzip standing seam roofing system in plain mill finish aluminium which corresponds with Snow and Rock's brand image as the UK's leading extreme/outdoor company.

Ash and Lacy supplied the aluminium sheets to cover 5,300 sq ft of the Snow and Rock store, the largest unit on site.

Ashzip sheets can self-curve up to a 40-55m radius subject to the requirements; radii as low as 4.8 metres can be mechanically curved on site or in the factory.

For the Snow and Rock unit, the sheets were pre-curved in a factory environment (to a centreline radii of rafter 32.6 metres) before it was installed by Valent Roofing to create a striking concave and convex roof profile.

Ashzip offers a wide range of design configurations to suit the client's specifications.

The Ashzip system also provides excellent resistance against poor weather conditions and the fully integrated design ensures good thermal performance which complies with AD2 L/Technical Standard J John Rowlinson, Director of PTS Properties confirmed that the roof looks impressive.
