A complete integrated roofing system for the re-building of Victory Church, which features one of the largest auditoria in Glasgow's South Side, has been supplied by Ash and Lacy.

Ash and Lacy have supplied a complete integrated roofing system for the re-building of Victory Church, which features one of the largest auditoria in Glasgow's South Side.

The Church was badly damaged by fire a few years ago and consequently GBP1.9 million of insurance money was used to demolish the old stone premises for a more robust and contemporary building which would fit in with the needs of modern day living, complete with name - The Victory Christian Centre.

Norris Hamilton, an architect with years of experience in church design, has created a building which gives the impression of spatial expansiveness by adopting an American model of design where gallery space increases as the individual moves further towards the back of the building which leads to a spectacular 600 seat open auditorium.

In addition there is a cafe area with fitted kitchen, a fitness room, social outreach school and Sunday service facilities.

The pastor had requested a shiny church with an aluminium roof and so Norris collaborated with Dougie McCallum, Manager of Rig Construction, to specify Ash and Lacy's integrated roofing system comprising an Ashzip standing seam roof, Ashgrid spacer support and Ashfab fabrications.

The overall result was a highly impressive looking roof which offers protection against severe weather conditions and complies with airtightness and thermal regulations, ADL2/Technical Standard J.

This is achieved by the secret fixing and interlocking perimeters of the continuous aluminium sheets, which prevents rainwater from seeping through, as there are no end laps.

The aluminium roof offers durability and design flexibility with little need for maintenance as it does not corrode.

Ash and Lacy is known in the industry for developing the innovative Ashgrid system which consists of a fully engineered bar and bracket which is easy to adjust and maintains full structural integrity.

Manufactured to BS EN ISO 9000:2000 quality standards, customers are assured the product will offer the best design flexibility and core stability in roofing.

Ash and Lacy also enhanced the Victory Christian Centre with a range of fabricated accessories and perimeter detailing, which fit in with the architect's vision and functionality.

Norris Hamilton and Dougie McCallum confirmed that the Ash and Lacy solution has fulfilled the requirements and everyone is delighted with the finish.
