Manchester Business School Worldwide (MBSW) has announced the winners of two scholarships from RICS and RIBA to join a unique MBA this month.

Manchester Business School Worldwide (MBSW) has announced the winners of two scholarships from RICS and RIBA to join a unique MBA this month RICS (the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) and RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects), in partnership with Manchester Business School Worldwide (MBSW), were each offering a 50% scholarship to a chartered member for the business school's new MBA for Construction Executives

MBSW is the distance-learning arm of Manchester Business School.

Thompson Kapapa of John Doyle Construction .

is the winner of the RICS MBA for Construction Executives Scholarship, with Francis Henderson of Sturgis Associates winning the RIBA MBA for Construction Executives Scholarship.

Announcing the winners, Professor Graham Winch, Programme Director, Manchester Business School said: "The standard of entries was very high and it was interesting to note the differences between the architects and the quantity surveyors in their approaches".

"However, my reasons for the selection are the same in both cases".

"Kapapa and Henderson distinguish themselves by being more analytic, and having clearly read texts on construction project management".

"Indeed, Henderson has obviously read my book! Very well done to them both".

The scholarships, both worth over £6,000, are awarded by MBSW after a competition in which applicants were required to submit an electronic presentation based on a case study provided to them.

This case study was concerned with 'Designing the Sheffield Arena', a multi use facility on the edge of the city.

The scholarship is for entry to the course in January 2006.

MBSW academics and representatives of the RIBA and RICS Practice Department assessed the competition entries.

The new MBA programme was developed in partnership with CITB-ConstructionSkills and through consultation with the leading industry bodies, and is designed to appeal to managers within all construction disciplines, from surveying and engineering through to managing the process.

Further info about the programme can be found on www.mbs-worldwide.ac.uk/construction.
