Asta TILOS Time-Location planning software
Asta Development is exhibiting TILOS time-location planning software in the UK for the first time at the Civils 2005 show, 22-24 November at London Olympia.
In his presentation Gary identified two 'classic types' of construction planners:.
TYPE A PLANNERS who tend to be wedded to their computer and spend about 80% of their time in front of it; and TYPE B PLANNERS who focus more on the communications aspect of project management and take a strategic view.
In May 2005 Asta will be running a series of seminars in London, Birmingham and Manchester.
This series of three morning seminars is designed for anyone who is - or wants to be - a Type B Construction Planner.
Though their steering group, Asta has found that many planners are facing increased pressure to be more efficient, for example having to produce plans under extremely tight time constraints at tender stage.
In the process of striving to improve efficiency, there is a danger that planners can lose sight of the importance of their pivotal role as communicator, often falling unwillingly into being a type A planner.
Michael McCullen, Managing Director at Asta Development said, "Asta hopes that through these seminars planners can find out how to both meet the demands of their work, while still maintaining the key principles of planning - communication".
Asta will be showing planners how to quickly produce impressive plans at tender stage, communicate plans to clients over the web, report progress from site via a PDA or the web and discover how 3D Models allow you to show your clients what the effect of a change would be on the project.
The seminars will demonstrate the range of software tools available from Asta Development and partner, NavisWorks.
Aimed at planners who work for a main contractor, larger trade contractor or construction consultancy and who have an interest in - or actively work in - a project management/planning role.
