AT Jones secures education fit-out contract

AT Jones has secured a major contract for Cowlin Construction, a Balfour Beatty company, for the interior fit-out of INTO's Duryard Halls of Residence student accommodation.

The Western Region of the company has won the contract, with offices in Bristol and Cardiff serving the Western region and Wales.

The company also has offices in Milton Keynes, and Head office in Fareham, Hampshire.

These buildings form part of a development at the Streatham Campus of the University of Exeter for The National Skills Academy for Construction.

The Duryard project comprises of nine buildings over five blocks overall and will have a total of 517 bedrooms, laundry facilities and communal spaces.

The works package secured by AT Jones consists of metal stud partitions, acoustic/fire protection works, dry-lining to masonry walls, MF plasterboard ceilings to the bedrooms and kitchens, tile and grid suspended ceilings to the corridors, plaster skim finish to the walls and ceilings and two coat plasterwork in the stairwells.

AT Jones' approach to the tender and construction process gained Cowlins approval, particularly its involvement with design, relationship with material manufacturers British Gypsum, Ecophon Acoustic Ceilings and their suppliers Sheffield Insulations.
