Atlas Ward Structures has awarded structural steelwork contract to build a retail development comprising a Sainsbury's Superstore and adjacent non-food retail units in Edinburgh.

Atlas Ward Structures has recently being appointed for the largest retail scheme to be constructed in Edinburgh for some period of time The North Yorkshire based contractor has been awarded the structural steelwork contract to build a retail development comprising a Sainsbury's Superstore and adjacent non-food retail units on Westfield road, Edinburgh

The contract was awarded to them by main contractor Bowmer and Kirkland on behalf of the developer, Forrest Developments.

The proposed retail development is situated close to the Murrayfield Stadium and it will measure nearly 105,000 sq ft and consist of over 600 tonnes of structural steelwork.

The retail development also has 350 car parking spaces.

The project will bring a substantial amount of jobs to the area and is due for overall completion by late November 2007.

The overall project value is GBP30 million.
