AukettFitzroyRobinson standardise on
Autodesk

Following the merger between Aukett and Fitzroy Robinson, the new combined architectural practice AukettFitzroyRobinson has chosen to standardise on Autodesk Revit Series.

AukettFitzroyRobinson has chosen to standardise on Autodesk Revit Series As a result, it has ordered 74 seats from Autodesk reseller Excitech for immediate implementation with an option to take another 40 to replace Bentley MicroStation systems in the near future

Freddie Cottis, AukettFitzroyRobinson's head of IT, explains that when the two companies merged they had a mixture of Bentley MicroStation, AutoCAD and Autodesk Architectural Desktop.

Consequently, the decision was made to establish a common platform and a complete market assessment was carried out, particularly concentrating on Autodesk and Bentley products.

"We have offices all across Europe, including Russia, the Czech Republic and Poland and Autodesk has a much wider reach in these areas than its competitors".

"We also asked our supply chain what they were using and the overwhelming response was Autodesk technology." However, the decision was based on more than logistical practicalities.

"We found Revit both impressive and interesting".

"During the last few years there has been a big shift in the use of CAD software and we are keen to make use of Revit's 3D modelling capabilities which help us to be both more productive - and more creative," he adds.

"Also, standardising on Revit will mean we can really maximise our resources across Europe, particularly on larger projects".

Steve Rouse, corporate account manager at Excitech comments: "Such a significant commitment from this leading practice demonstrates its high level of confidence in the benefits of object-based design, in Revit as its platform for the future and in Excitech for training and to support them through implementation, ensuring their return on this investment." "We are currently helping to set CAD standards for implementation and also developing a data management system to help share and manage the large volumes of information they will be handling".

Aukett Fitzroy Robinson looks forward to rolling out the implementation across the practice at the beginning of 2006. Request a free brochure from Autodesk ...
