Autodesk Buzzsaw helps streamline
Glasgow project

Gladedale (Central Scotland), formerly Bett Homes, has become the first housebuilder in Scotland to invest in Autodesk Buzzsaw.

The firm is using the collaborative project management software solution to streamline operations and so save time and costs on its huge GBP212 million Oatlands regeneration project in Glasgow Already it has been able to dispose of around 2,000 paper drawings which are now available on-demand online at any time

Situated on the south bank of the River Clyde, about a mile south-east of Glasgow centre, Oatlands is being recreated as a desirable new residential area with approximately 1,275 new homes, including around 200 social housing units.

The project includes an upgrading of the mature Richmond Park and a range of community facilities including shops, a pub/restaurant, public hall, allotments and improvements to an existing school.

It has also involved the extensive renewal of underground infrastructure and the re-routing of a busy thoroughfare to create a main avenue at the heart of the site.

The unusual aspect of this project is that currently, the entire development is mainly in the hands of one housebuilder, which means that the administration and day-to-day running of the project is a mammoth task.

Yet, by introducing PCs, laptops and Buzzsaw to the site offices, this is becoming an exercise in best practice.

"Now, authorised personnel can access any drawing or any other project documentation including completion notices and health and safety files, whenever it is needed," says Malcolm Crawford, senior architectural technician.

"Drawings are instantly available as soon as they have been completed or revised".

"It ensures everyone is working to latest versions and by turning the project into an almost paperless operation, it also offers a greener and far more cost-effective alternative to the usual paper, printing and postage delivery requirements of disseminating construction information".

"Construction manager Gerry Smith agrees: "Buzzsaw helps us to deal with all questions much more quickly - whether from our directors or from the plumbers, as we have almost instant access to all current information.

It also prevents hold ups on site when changes need to be made".

"Housebuilders are recognising the value of bringing technology on site".

"We now access Buzzsaw even more than our emails," he concludes. Request a free brochure from Autodesk ...
