Autodesk supplies BIM software for care home
Pozzoni has invested in 32 seats of Revit Architecture, the Autodesk design software for building information modelling (BIM).
According to Mark Stodgell, Pozzoni IT director, one of the benefits of using this software is the way it enables architects to visualise, simulate and analyse designs to assess and evaluate the impact they will make on their environment.
'At the heart of Revit Architecture is the Revit parametric change engine, which automatically coordinates changes across the project - in model views or drawing sheets, schedules, sections, plans and more.
'This means different options can be tried and tested rapidly and efficiently, because the impact of each change is demonstrated at every move.
Stodgell added: 'The aim was a complete digital workflow in Revit throughout the entire design process.
'It was appropriate then that one of the first major projects the firm carried out using Revit Architecture was a three-storey, 90-bed care home in Stevenage.
'Here the three-person team used the software from the very beginning of the process, not only to create the design, but also to ensure that it met all environmental standards".
'For example, it was used for early site massing, solar studies and the impact of the building's height on neighbouring buildings.
He added: 'It also enabled the team to carry out energy studies directly off the model and so optimise efficiency.
'Revit Architecture produced all planning, tender and production drawings, plus schedules for doors and windows.
