Recycled PVC cuts environmental impact
new calculations by plastic recycler, Axion Recycling shows that manufacturing new building products from recycled PVC-U has about 6% of the global warming impact of using virgin polymer.
At its state-of-the-art factory, Axion Polymers produces high specification polymer resins that can be used for new injection-moulded components; using recyclate saves 90% in CO2 emissions per tonne of raw material consumed in comparison to virgin polymers.
Delighted with the nomination, Axion's Technical Director, Keith Freegard comments.
'More companies are recognising the benefits of using recyclate in new products.
This not only gives their products a strong set of 'green' credentials and satisfies eco-design considerations, but saves costs in comparison to using virgin polymers'.
The awards, organised by the Plastics and Rubber Weekly magazine (PRW) in association with the BPF, are held annually and recognise achievements by UK processors and their suppliers in a number of categories.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the London Hilton on June 15th.
