An Axion Recycling product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 3, 2010

Axion Polymers has been shortlisted for Processor of the Year in the Plastic Industry Awards 2010.

The award-winning plastics recycler was selected as a finalist for demonstrating that its recycling process delivers excellent polymer product quality to customers demanding 'as good as virgin' standards.

Axion's finalist position was announced in July shortly after it secured the Carbon Reduction label for its Axpoly PS13 post-consumer recycled polystyrene derived from recovered garment hangers.

This product creates only 17 per cent of the emissions associated with the full supply chain for oil-based virgin polymer.

The 'as good as virgin' quality claim for Axion's products is proven by fact that three of Europe's leading virgin polymer producers are now using Axpoly to blend with their own formulations as a means to deliver PCR (post-consumer recycled) content to polystyrene end-users.

Next step is for a judge to visit Axion's Salford reprocessing facility in early August when a supplementary report will be produced for the judging panel.

Winners will be announced by organisers Plastics and Rubber Weekly at a ceremony in London on 1 October.

Axion Polymers is part of the Axion Group that develops and operates innovative resource recovery and processing solutions for recycling waste materials.

The Group works with a wide range of clients within the recycling and process industries on the practical development of new processing and collection methods.
