The decision to use modular wiring was made by M and E contractor Skanska.
"We opted for this approach because we knew from previous experience it would reduce the time taken to install the 1st and 2nd fix elements of the lighting and HVAC for example, there is no need to install containment as one operation and return to wire, thus reducing costs," explained Skanska's Andrew Ferguson.
"Apex systems have been used throughout all office areas.
Where areas were not suitable for a conventional plug and socket system we were able to take advantage of the pre-wired conduit offered by Apex.
Apex was also able to offer us a very competitive package," he added.
Apex modular wiring systems use plug and socket connections manufactured and tested off site, so that on-site connection work simply requires plugging the connections together.
In this way, installation time is greatly reduced - often by as much as 60% - as well as enabling contractors to make optimum use of their workforce.
