Acquisition of McDonnell Piling and Foundations

Leading geotechnical specialist, Bachy Soletanche has purchased the piling contractor, McDonnell Piling and Foundations.

The acquisition by Bachy Soletanche will provide the support structure for McDonnell Piling to further increase its scope and capabilities in the Irish marketplace.

Based in Cork and with an annual turnover of approximately euro5million, McDonnell Piling specialises in augured piling and grouting, ground anchors and soil nails.

Through the purchase, the piling contractor will become the local base of Bachy Soletanche in Ireland while continuing to trade under its own name.

Speaking of the acquisition, Martin Pratt, Managing Director at Bachy Soletanche Limited, commented: "The acquisition will take advantage of the synergy between the two companies".

"As such, it will expand the capacity of McDonnell Piling and for Bachy Soletanche will provide increased opportunities to get involved with larger projects within the country".

The Managing Director of McDonnell Piling and Foundations, Kevin McDonnell is a previous employee of Bachy Soletanche and therefore has existing knowledge of the firm's capabilities and position in the market.

He will therefore continue to manage McDonnell Piling and will be the senior representative of Bachy Soletanche in Ireland.
