Bauder scoops top accolade at roofing awards

The updated Bauder Total Roof System is a bituminous based waterproofing system suited for new build and refurbishment that incorporates new methods of fixing to improve safety on site and speed up the installation process.

A combination of technologies merges the durability and robustness of torch-applied SBS bitumen systems with the speed and safety characteristics of modern self adhesive membranes, bringing the future of flat roof waterproofing to a new high point.

Self-adhesive bitumen membranes are utilised for the vapour barrier and underlayer whilst the capping sheet remains unchanged delivering a resilient and tough waterproofing system well known throughout the industry.

Additionally, factory applied bonding bitumen on the upper surface of the vapour barrier simplifies the fixing of insulation and removes the need for hot bitumen boilers on site.

The membranes feature 'DUO' lap technology, patented by Bauder, with colour coded laps which are sealed with a gas torch for guaranteed security.

This method of installation considerably reduces the amount of naked flame required to lay the membranes, and, coupled with the elimination of hot bitumen boilers, contributes substantially to better and safer working practices on site.

The product excellence category was introduced in 2004 to recognise an individual product used with or incorporated into a predominantly bituminous flat roof.

The award is given to a successful, innovative product that has improved the overall roofing system available to the client.

The judges were unanimous in their decision and made particular comment to the system's new methods of installation, "A well thought out product that is easy to install".
