The National Federation of Roofing Contractors Awards 2006 saw Acclaim Roofing win the Built Up Roofing Award for the Charter School in London which incorporated a Bauder extensive sedum green roof.

The roof provides a visual impact for the schoolchildren and delivers an environmentally friendly building to increase awareness from an early age.

Ian Duggan from Acclaim said, "We are delighted to have received this award for the Charter School.

The project required the work to be carried out during term-time, so Health and Safety was of prime importance to all in the project team, coupled with the fact that we completed the work within budget and ahead of programme was an appreciated achievement." "The awards are designed to recognise and reward outstanding workmanship amongst our contractor members", explained the NFRC.

The award categories span all aspects of roofing to encompass tiling, slating, single ply, built up roofing, sheeting and cladding and the entries comprised information and the fine points of the installation, highlighting any awkward aspects and detailing that had to be overcome.

The NFRC is able to trace its origins from 1892, when a group of forty slate merchants and slaters throughout England held a meeting in York, and now comprises over a thousand contractors and associated members and is the UK's leading trade association for the roofing industry.
