Going crazy for paving in Westwood Ho!

A Baggeridge Brick product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Sep 12, 2005

Guy Greenfield specified Vintage Blue Pavers from Baggeridge Brick to create parking areas and the roadway running the circumference of new Westwood Ho! development.

Westward Ho! is a charming seaside town best known for its sandy beaches but now there's another reason this area is becoming even more popular and that is the creation of Nautilus Apartments.

Rows of traditional beach huts and holiday accommodation are prevalent throughout Westward Ho! however the architect and developer of Nautilus Apartments, Guy Greenfield, at Guy Greenfield Architects, wanted to create a scheme that would not only enhance this already popular seaside town but also encourage property hunters from outside the area to consider this coastal resort as an attractive place to live.

Guy Greenfield specified 1,200m2 of Vintage Blue Pavers from Baggeridge Brick to create parking areas and the roadway running the circumference of the development.

The pavers, which have a weathered appearance, provide a striking contrast to the crisp lines and modern materials of the exterior facades.

Nautilus Apartments is a residential development which comprises 28 stylish apartments including 14 one bedroom designs and 14 two bedroom duplexes which are situated on the seafront of Westward Ho! The compact three storey development takes inspiration from the Nautilus shell with striking 'Sto' render to the exterior walls, extensive glazing and an upward curved 'wave' copper clad roof and pavers from leading manufacturer, Baggeridge Brick surround the scheme.

"We wanted to differentiate between the development and parking area and this was achieved by using extensively contrasting materials" comments Guy Greenfield.

He continues: Nautilus Apartments is a contemporary development and it was our intention to make the exterior spaces look slightly more rustic in appearance.

The richly coloured 'tumbled' pavers from Baggeridge were not only ideal for our needs but also our vision for the scheme." Such is success of Nautilus Apartments that only seven apartments now remain for sale.
