Baggeridge Brick is assisting the world of art by lending its factory facilities to award winning potter, Julian Stair.

Sedgley-based brick manufacturer, Baggeridge is assisting the world of art by lending its factory facilities to award winning potter, Julian Stair.

The London-based ceramics expert - who was presented with the European Acheivment Award 2004 by the Worlds Craft Council - is putting Baggeridge's clay, kilns and firing equipment to good use to make five and six feet tall pots for exhibition at museums across the UK.

Speaking of his time at the factory, Julian said: "The facilities at Baggeridge are ideal for creating my unique ceramic items and without the use of such equipment it wouldn't have been possible for me to make them".

Julian's pots mark a new landmark in the pottery world purely because of their stature and the length of time it takes to create them.

"Each pot goes through 30 different stages over a period of a month to be made," he said.

"My average working day is a gruelling 14 hours but it's definitely worth it when the final pieces are created and I see them in a museum or as monumental pieces of art".

Julian has always been keen to take pottery into new realms and push the boundaries, and he feels he's achieved this with the help of Baggeridge's unique facilities.

Mark Morris, sales director from Baggeridge said: "We are delighted that we have been able to lend our facilities to Julian and look forward to seeing more of him in the future".

The works of art have recently appeared at two exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and been purchased by the Potteries and Art Gallery and the National Museum of Wales.
