A Baggeridge Brick product story

Baggeridge's Red Multi Sovereign Stock bricks used to develop a brand new mixed use building in Sheffield.

A brand new mixed use building in Sheffield has benefited from bricks by Baggeridge.

The First Start building, which houses a young children's centre and nursery, offices, visitor centre, community cafe and training facilities has been constructed on a site within Firth Park - an area of much needed regeneration and Baggeridge's Red Multi Sovereign Stock bricks were used to develop a part of the building which has a modern cube-like appearance.

What makes this structure so unique is that a large window wraps around the corner of the building and overlooks the park and surrounding hills.

Pre-weathered zinc has been used for the roof and vertical cladding elsewhere complements its modern features.

Wendy Chan, project architect, at Panter Hudspith Architects said that bricks from Baggeridge were chosen to reflect materials used elsewhere in the local area.

Additionally, the brick was selected for the interior of the cube, as it gives a warm feeling to a 'Street' area inside the building.

The 'brick cube' is located in a prominent corner of the park, visible from both the park entrance and the local amenities beyond the roundabout and further down Firth Park.

The end result is a building that has an interesting design, is modern in appearance and has good quality bricks from a manufacturer that is well known and is well respected in the industry.
