Barnshaws won the first lean manufacturing award awarded by Metskill and sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers alias Wire Workers.

The Metal Industry ( Metskill ) for the first time launched it's Lean Manufacturing M.I.C.E Team of the year award in partnership and sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers alias Wire Workers to find the M.I.C.E continuous-improvement team that has made outstanding contribution to their company through improvements and culture change.

Over 120 metals companies were invited to compete for this award.

Barnshaws Section Benders were short listed from the applicants and attended an interview at Metskills offices in Sheffield on 22nd Nov where a presentation was given by George Harrison (Manufacturing Manager from Barnshaws) on behalf of their M.I.C.E Lean Manufacturing Team.

Barnshaws fought off fierce competition to win the award and a prize of £1,000 worth of high-spec audio-visual equipment.

The award presentation took place at the prestigious Court Dinner of the Worshipful Company in London on 12th December 2005.
