Balfour Kilpatrick awarded GBP0.6 million mechanical services contract for Charles Rennie Mackintosh's iconic Mackintosh Building at the Glasgow School of Art.
The Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project will see the building being restored to Mackintosh's original design and rooms being reinstated to their original purpose Funders of the ambitious project include the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Scotland and visitor numbers are estimated to be 33,000 a year when the project is completed
Balfour Kilpatrick is currently on site and is due to finish in late November 2009, with their scope of works comprising of mechanical services connected to the heating system, ventilation units, air-conditioning and the refurbishment of rest rooms.
The works are being carried out for client Morris and Spottiswood and ultimate client Glasgow School of Art.
