Balfour Beatty Construction awarded GBP26 million Atlantic Quay office development in Glasgow.

Balfour Beatty Construction, the building business of Balfour Beatty plc, has been awarded a GBP26 million new-build office development contract by Wilson Bowden Developments Limited for "Building 5" at Atlantic Quay in the Broomielaw district of Glasgow.

The 98-week contract comprises the construction of an 11-storey 14,000 sq m office building in a steel frame with a unitised glass facade.

The completed building will be the tallest in the Broomielaw area and completes the development of land between Robertson Street and York Street.

Building 5 is adjacent to Balfour Beatty's previous completed multi-storey office development contracts for Wilson Bowden; Atlantic Quay 4 recently completed in August 2007 and Atlantic Quay 6 which is now fully occupied by the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Bob Clark, Managing Director Balfour Beatty Construction said: "We are very pleased to have been awarded this third Atlantic Quay contract by Wilson Bowden and look forward to delivering another first class facility to further complement the heart of Glasgow's prospering international financial services district." Construction will begin shortly with completion due in August 2009.
