Balfour Beatty plc, announce a six year title association with Europe's largest annual young people's multi-games competition, The London Youth Games.

In a deal brokered by Fast Track, the UK's leading sports sponsorship, marketing and events agency, GBP1.7 million will be invested by Balfour Beatty supporting the London Youth Games and local grass roots sport development from now until 2013.

As title sponsor, added to the GBP1.7 million, Balfour Beatty will also be contributing ideas, management support and resources to help ensure that the London Youth Games goes from strength to strength.

As part of the deal, each Local Authority will be awarded grants for sports development in an annual competition.

The London Youth Games are open to anyone aged between seven and 17, with every London borough submitting teams across 30 different sports in a series of competition days, building towards the three days of finals at Crystal Palace.

Ian Tyler, Balfour Beatty Chief Executive said, "Balfour Beatty's role is to create and care for physical infrastructure on which we all depend.

Wherever we operate we seek to add social benefits to the physical improvements our work delivers.

"Our commitment to sponsor and support the London Youth Games through to 2013 reflects both the enormous amount of work we carry out in the Capital and our recognition of the benefits that sports participation can bring, in terms of personal well-being, social cohesion and opportunities to grow".

Director of Rights Marketing at Fast Track, Marc Hope said, "We are very proud to have led the negotiation with Balfour Beatty, and it is fantastic news that they have increased their initial two year involvement to become title sponsor from 2008 with this tremendous six year deal.

"This secures the future of this inspiring event but also delivers strong return on investment for Balfour's GBP1.7 million injection into grass root London youth sport".

Anthony Kendall, Chairman of the London Youth Games added, "This announcement represents a seminal moment in the history of the London Youth Games, which has at its heart the ethos of involving as many young Londoners as possible in competitive sport.

"Balfour's investment will allow us to fulfill our objectives of doubling participation in the London Youth Games by 2012".

The London Youth Games, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, engages 25,000 young Londoners from all over the city to compete in over 30 different sports, providing them the opportunity to represent their local Borough or school.
