Offical opening of Infinity Bridge

A Balfour Beatty product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team May 25, 2009

Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering, the main contractor for the construction the GBP15 million Infinity Bridge at Stockton-on Tees, celebrate its official opening.

A spectacular show of sound and light showcased the bridge and the ongoing regeneration of the area.

The vision of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and Tees Valley Regeneration and the aspirations of the designers Expedition Engineering have been delivered by what is very much a local team, led by Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering's Northern Region.

The unique, 273 metre-long footbridge, linking Teesdale with the Northshore site has already scooped the ICE North East Robert Stephenson Award and Constructing Excellence North East Project of the Year.

The footbridge was funded by Stockton Borough Council, One North East, Homes and Communities Agency and money attracted to the area from the European Regional Development Fund.
