The Gritting Company continued to supply property maintenance companies and builders merchants with salt during freezing temperatures when stocks were low across the UK.

The winter of 2008/9 proved to be a trying time for Winter Maintenance companies across the UK.

Councils and private companies came under heavy fire after salt stocks were depleted and roads across many counties were left ungritted and inaccessible, following heavy snowfalls and freezing temperatures.

Many county's levels of salt ran low, leaving crews unable to make roads and car parks safe.
