Beating the credit crunch with modular build
Modular building could provide a cost-effective solution to the difficult market conditions, according to experts at Britspace.
The RICS UK Construction Market Survey (Q2) reported that a fall in output in the housing market has thrown the Government's target of three million homes by 2020 into doubt.
Residential developers are now faced with an impossible situation.
There is widespread uncertainty over the levels of future workloads in the construction sector as a result of debt finances no longer being so widely available and the fall in prices being experienced in the industry.
When combined with an expectation to provide 240,000 new homes each year, the situation looks impossible.
Mike Hampton, Technical Director at Britspace commented: "Companies operating in the construction sector are finding themselves in an impossible situation at the moment, with market conditions preventing them from producing enough houses to meet Government targets".
"Traditional building methods are inefficient, and in negative market conditions, where time and efficiency are of the essence, the benefits of modular building can be clearly seen".
"Modular construction takes less time and requires less manpower than conventional building techniques, making it an invaluable consideration for construction companies".
Unlike traditional builds, modern methods of construction can offer a drastic reduction in construction time and building costs which means the saving can therefore be passed on to the buyer.
As one of the fastest growing methods of construction, bespoke modular buildings can be built to the shortest timescales and to a variety of design specification.
